Start with the size of what you need to capture. Artec Micro II is an automated desktop scanner for small parts, with industry-leading 5 micron accuracy, and Artec Spider II is built for intricate, high-resolution detail. Artec Eva and Artec Leo cover general-purpose handheld scanning, with Leo running fully wireless and standalone so you are not tethered to a laptop. For large scenes and structures, Artec Ray II captures at range up to 130 meters, and Artec Jet is a SLAM-based mobile LiDAR system for covering a whole site at walking pace. Artec Point II is Artec 3D’s target-based laser scanner for industrial metrology work.

Both are handheld scanners, but they behave differently in practice. Leo processes on board and runs fully wireless with its own display, so you can walk around an object, or into an awkward position, without a laptop and cables following you. Eva is the long-established tethered option that many labs and service bureaus have standardized on, and it remains a strong choice for bench and studio work.

If most of your scanning happens in the field, on a shop floor, or on large assemblies, Leo’s freedom of movement usually pays for itself in setup time alone.

Artec scanners are designed around Artec Studio, Artec 3D’s capture and processing software. It is where you align scans, clean up meshes, and export to CAD or inspection formats. We sell Artec Studio 20 in our 3D Software section.

What ships with any particular scanner depends on the configuration and licence term you order, so ask us for a quote and we will spell out exactly what is included before you commit to anything.

Not without help, and that is true of every optical 3D scanner rather than anything specific to Artec. Highly reflective, very dark, and transparent surfaces do not return projected light cleanly, so the scanner sees noise or gaps where geometry should be.

The standard fix is a light matting coat. We stock the AESUB range, including self-vanishing sprays that evaporate on their own and leave no residue to clean off. That matters when you are scanning a customer’s component you are not permitted to alter.

We provide training, hands-on or hands-off depending on how your team prefers to learn, and we stay available afterwards for the questions that only surface once real parts are on the table. Protection plans are also available. Ask us what makes sense for the way you actually plan to use the scanner.
