Geomagic Design X Pro 2026
Geomagic® Design X™ is Hexagon’s reverse engineering software. It combines 3D scan processing with history-based CAD modeling, so you can turn a physical part into a feature-based, editable model that works with your other design software.
Design X Pro is the complete plan, with every Design X tool. It includes everything in Go and Plus, then adds native CAD import, the Extrusion, Revolution, Sweep, Loft and Pipe modeling wizards, exact surfacing with Fit Surface Patches and Boundary Fit, advanced mesh and point cloud repair, Auto Segment, texture tools and batch scan processing.
It suits teams that reverse engineer complex or freeform parts, work with native CAD data from customers and suppliers, or process scans in volume. The current release is Geomagic Design X 2026.1.0.
What Pro adds
Pro is the only plan with the full toolset. These are the tools you get only in Pro.
Import Parasolid and native files from CATIA, Creo, NX, SolidWorks, Inventor, ACIS, VDA-FS, Rhino, JT and Solid Edge. Export Parasolid, Leica, KeyShot, ACIS and CATIA.
Extrusion, Revolution, Sweep, Loft and Pipe wizards extract features from the mesh with guided, automated steps.
Fit Surface Patches, Boundary Fit and Solidify, plus patch network tools for building surfaces on freeform shapes.
Sew Boundaries, Retriangulate, Optimize Mesh, Virtual Rescan, Rewrap, Remove Markers, Smart Brush and Enhance Shape, and point cloud smoothing and meshing.
Auto Segment and Resegment regions with geometry classification. Align with Quick Fit, Best Fit, Datum Match, the Align Wizard, and target or sphere registration.
Process Designer, Run Scan Process and Batch Process for repeat scan work, plus texture editing and export, AutoSketch, Find Defect and Refit.
Modeling wizards
The modeling wizards are a Pro-only toolset. They are automated, guided tools that extract extrusions, revolves, sweeps, lofts and pipes directly from the mesh.
Native CAD
Pro is the only plan that imports native CAD. Bring native models in alongside your scan data, then send the result on with LiveTransfer or export it as Parasolid, ACIS or CATIA.

Scan or probe directly in Design X, import data from any scanner, or bring in native CAD alongside the scan.
Repair the mesh with the advanced tools, Auto Segment it into regions, and align with Best Fit or the Align Wizard.
Use the modeling wizards, exact surfacing and the full solid toolset to rebuild the part with design intent.
Check deviation with the Accuracy Analyzer, then LiveTransfer to CAD or export native, Parasolid or STEP.
Go, Plus or Pro

Compatibility
Pro supports every Design X device and file format, including native CAD import and export.
Using a scanner from us? Scantech’s DefinSight and Tviewer software are on the direct-control list in every Design X plan, which covers SCANOLOGY (Scantech) scanners. Scans from Artec scanners come in as standard mesh or point cloud files exported from Artec Studio, and Design X works with data from any scanner this way.

Very likely. Design X works with data from any scanner through neutral formats, and Pro can control many devices directly, including Hexagon/ZG, Creaform, Shining 3D and Scantech handheld scanners, Hexagon Absolute Arm and Romer arms, Leica trackers, FARO Cobalt and Hexagon structured light scanners. Artec scans come in as files exported from Artec Studio.
Yes. Process Designer records a scan processing routine, and Run Scan Process and Batch Process apply it to new data. These tools are only in Pro.
Version 2026.1.0, released in March 2026, adds a ZG handheld scanner plug-in, Scantech DefinSight support, RDS 6.6 support, a more flexible Split Mesh tool, Pipe and Sweep wizard improvements, Boundary Fit as a standard command, LiveTransfer for SOLIDWORKS 2026, newer native CAD versions, LGSx import and faster Fill Holes.
Hexagon. Hexagon completed its acquisition of the Geomagic software suite from 3D Systems in April 2025, and Geomagic Design X is now developed and supported within Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. Older material may still show the 3D Systems or Oqton names.

A 64-bit Windows 10 or later PC. Hexagon’s minimum for version 2026.1.0 is an Intel or AMD 64-bit processor, 8 GB of RAM, 30 GB of free disk space and an NVIDIA GPU with OpenGL 4.0 and 2 GB of VRAM. Hexagon recommends Windows 11, a recent Core i7/i9 or Ryzen 7/9, 32 GB of RAM or more, an SSD and an NVIDIA RTX card with 4 GB of VRAM or more. The requirements are the same for every plan.
