Geomagic Design X Plus 2026
Geomagic® Design X™ is Hexagon’s reverse engineering software. It combines 3D scan processing with history-based CAD modeling, so you can turn a physical part into a feature-based, editable model that works with your other design software.
Design X Plus is the middle plan. Hexagon describes it as an enhanced toolset that integrates directly with your scanner to help you create usable CAD, faster. It includes everything in Go, then adds solid offset and shell, selective Auto Surface, surface trimming and sewing, draft and patterns, the full Accuracy Analyzer, and direct control of portable arms, laser trackers and structured light scanners with probing.
It suits professionals doing regular, moderately complex reverse engineering who do not need native CAD import or the modeling wizards in Pro. The current release is Geomagic Design X 2026.1.0.

Plus keeps the full Go workflow and adds the tools that save time on parts with more surfaces, more features and more measured data.

Device integration
With Plus, scanning and probing happen in Design X itself, so you do not have to export, convert and re-import data between programs.

Every Design X plan includes LiveTransfer, which sends the finished model into your CAD system with the feature tree intact.

Scan or probe directly in Design X with a supported scanner, arm or tracker, or import data from any scanner.
Heal the mesh, edit boundaries, defeature and fill holes, then define regions and align the data.
Build solids and surfaces with selective Auto Surface, offsets, shells, trims, drafts and patterns.
Check the model against the scan with the Accuracy Analyzer, then LiveTransfer it to CAD.
Go, Plus or Pro

Compatibility
Plus works with scan data from any scanner, controls handheld scanners directly, and adds direct control of arms, trackers and structured light scanners.
Using a scanner from us? Scantech’s DefinSight and Tviewer software are on the direct-control list in every Design X plan, which covers SCANOLOGY (Scantech) scanners. Scans from Artec scanners come in as standard mesh or point cloud files exported from Artec Studio, and Design X works with data from any scanner this way.

Version 2026.1.0, released in March 2026, adds a ZG handheld scanner plug-in, Scantech DefinSight support, RDS 6.6 hardware support, a more flexible Split Mesh tool, faster Fill Holes, LiveTransfer support for SOLIDWORKS 2026 and an updated licensing system.
Hexagon. Hexagon completed its acquisition of the Geomagic software suite from 3D Systems in April 2025, and Geomagic Design X is now developed and supported within Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division. Older material may still show the 3D Systems or Oqton names.

A 64-bit Windows 10 or later PC. Hexagon’s minimum for version 2026.1.0 is an Intel or AMD 64-bit processor, 8 GB of RAM, 30 GB of free disk space and an NVIDIA GPU with OpenGL 4.0 and 2 GB of VRAM. Hexagon recommends Windows 11, a recent Core i7/i9 or Ryzen 7/9, 32 GB of RAM or more, an SSD and an NVIDIA RTX card with 4 GB of VRAM or more. The requirements are the same for every plan.
